The Paragon Project

A few years ago we acquired two ATI Paragon 2 consoles, let's say we were trying to conserve what was left from the more analogue times. We liked the ATI sound so much we decided to do a little racking project and build a custom enclosure to house a single channel of this legendary mixing console. It took about two years and many hours of research, drawing and designing to turn this project into a finished product, but here it is...

The most challenging part of this design was the PSU. Because there are multiple bipolar voltages needed to run this channelstrip we had a custom toroidal power transformer wound just for this occasion and designed the power supply circuit on a single sided pcb so we could prototype it on our own cnc router. Later we found the schematics for the ATI Pro6 psu and found we were very close to the original circuit but decided to keep our own and updated design.

The enclosure of this prototype has been laser cut and machine folded, powder coated and silk screen printed. We decided to keep the original ATI color and not try to copy the pink/redish tone ATI chose for it's Pro6 Channel strips...
